Non Food Item Distributions

Non Food Items (NFIs) are aid items such as hygiene kits, mosquito nets, water containers, mattresses, tools that SASH has distributed throughout the camps since our arrival.

To date SASH has distributed:

  • 100 tarps with ropes, 100 tarps without ropes
  • 4018 IOM hygiene kits (contains soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, toothbrushes and paste, razors, towels, sanitary towels)
  • 1250 waterproof groundsheets from Shelterbox
  • 1250 water containers from Shelterbox
  • 2200 mattresses from IOM
  • 1500 tool kits from IOM (contains spade, hoe, pick axe, saw, tin wire, hammer, selection of nails, rope)

In response  to the Cholera outbreak in October 2010 SASH began distributing cholera prevention materials. These included antiseptic soap, floor detergent, bleach, water purification tablets, washing up liquid, gloves, brushes and sponges.

Partners that provided us with materials for distribution to families who had a member contract cholera included:

  • IOM 200 cholera kits
  • InterSos 3000 cholera kits

Partners who provided us with materials for blanket distribution to camps, schools and churches included:

  • Auda International 2900 cholera kits
  • UNICEF 3000 bars of soap, 20 bottles of bleach and 90,000 aquatabs
  • IOM 700 bars of soap
  • Fin Church Aid 75,000 aquatabs

ACTED also provided 2000 Lifestraw water filtration units which we distributed to all families with children under 5.
